Jason Falls with Lois December 28th 2022

We had hiked to Jason Falls three different times but never made it all the way back to the huge ridge and cave.  Lois and I decided to do it on this snowy December day.  What the forestry service has done to the forest is disgraceful.  They have cut trees and left them laying.  Hiking to

the cave was so difficult because of all the downed trees.

The trail was overgrown at the start so Lois and I took tools to clear the briars.  I had my hedge trimmers and she had a rake and loppers.  We did a good job clearing it out.

Lois using her rake to clear what I had cut.
This was the trail before we started clearing it.

My feet were soaked, cold and by the time we got back to the car they were numb.  I was determined to get back to the cave so I kept pushing myself to continue.  I went the next day and bought waterproof boots, ordered some Sealzskin socks and waterproof pants.  I'm ready now!

Rich Cave Hollow Dec. 5th 2022

Rich Cave Hollow is in the Housier National Forest just a few miles south of St. Croix, Indiana
Wendell, Marilyn O'Bryan and I went to explore the hollow on Monday Dec. 5th
Above the waterfall.  This is a huge dropoff.  You would not want to be in the hollow during rain.  You would be washed awa.

You have to zoom in very close to see the carving in the rock that Otis Saalman made many years ago.  It's way up on the rock wall.  He owned the land at one time.  Now the Nature Conservancy owns it.
